Baby Goes Pro provides children and their parents with technically correct, fun and instructional products that teach fundamentals of sports, encourage kids to play and inspires them to move. 

New mom and champion tennis player Gigi Fernandez conceived the idea for Baby Goes Pro after giving birth to twins. It was then she noticed there was nothing on the market she could buy to help her introduce her children to sports. Gigi started brainstorming ideas, decided to become a Mompreneur and Baby Goes Pro was born.

The first product introduced by Baby Goes Pro is the Discover Sports DVD, an instructional “Introduction to Sports” DVD starring Emkei the monkey, an endearing and dynamic 3-D character kids can connect with. His name is pronounced \em\ ]kā\. It’s the sound made by joining the initials of Gigi’s twins – Madison and Karson. The spelling of our lovable monkey’s name is an acronym for the building blocks of sports. E.M.K.E.I. represents: Equipment, Movement, Know How, Elements and Instruction.

Emkei is joined by professional and collegiate athletes to teach children about baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis. “It was important to me that every shot in our series be technically correct, but also to keep it fun” explains Gigi, “So that if your 3 or 4 year has been watching Baby Goes Pro, the first time he or she see a tennis racquet, they will know how to pick it up and swing it. The same goes for griping a golf club or shooting a basket.”

The idea to create a DVD to teach young children about sports was inspired by Gigi’s personal experience. “When I was playing professionally,” says Gigi, “If I wanted to learn how to improve my technique, I would watch videos of people better than me to learn from them. I am a very visual learner so I thought why not use the same principal to start teaching kids how to play sports early on?”

With abundant research detailing the benefits of introducing children to sports at a young age – confidence, self-esteem, positive body-image, health, energy, communication – Baby Goes Pro was founded on the belief that sports are part of the basic building blocks that every parent should teach their child to help them grow up healthy, happy and confident.
